It is important, that you keep the plastic security band around the bundle during this Entire process to avoid tangling.

Co-wash & air dry: Co-washing your extensions is an essential step because it not only gently cleanses the hair, but also adds luster, shine, and bounce to the real natural texture of the hair. It helps ensure that there is no shedding or tangles, leaving the hair flawless before installation.

Shed & Tangle Test: To check for shedding and tangles in your hair, you can run your fingers through it or use a wide-tooth comb. It's normal to have a few strands come out, but if there's a significant amount or if you notice tangles, that could indicate an issue.

Bleach Test: Before applying bleach or color to the entire hair/product, perform a strand test on a few strands without cutting or removing them from the product. Ensure the strands lift and accept color properly. If the test does not produce the desired results, do not proceed with bleaching the full hair/product and contact us for guidance.

Curls & Textures Test: The hair comes in its natural textures from a single donor, making each bundle unique in texture and color. You can curl a few strands of hair to make sure it holds the curls well. This way, you can make sure the hair looks the way you want it to after putting it in.

REMY & VIRGIN™ does not accept any responsibility for any issues that arise once the product is used, altered, or if issues occur post-installation or due to incorrect care/maintenance. Returns or exchanges are not permitted in such cases. This includes damage resulting from color treatments or bleaching, cutting, any hair maintenance issues, incorrect installation, or any other purpose.

Raw hair needs maintenance (Before and after Install).

Taking care of your hair is a huge must, If you do not co-wash the hair enough it will start to dry up, losing its moisture and starts tangling. any leave in products will start to form a buildup on your hair which causes the hair to weigh down and will tangle and in some extreme cases matte. This hair must be conditioner washed 1-2 times a week depending on your lifestyle. If you sweat more from working out or daily activities washing your hair 2-3 times a week is better due to sweat and dirt builds up. We recommend Tresemme, Moisture Rich Conditioner.

We only suggest shampooing your extensions if the hair cuticles have an excessive amount of product build up causing the hair to be weighed down. Regularly, shampooing can dry out the hair and strip of its natural moisture. Be sure to use only sulfate free shampoo when cleansing and always follow it with a moisture conditioner. We recommend Tresemme, Moisture Rich Shampoo.

Tip to add smoother and shine to the Hair Extension:

  • Add few drops of olive oil to the conditioner that you use for co-wash.
  • Apply any sulphate free keratin-based leave in conditioner after co-wash and leave it to Air dry.
  • Once the hair is air dried, apply a generous amount of Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Moroccan Sleek Oil Treatment to lock the moisture and control Frizz.
  • Some type of installs may cause a little bit of tangles which is common in raw hair in which case please try to use some chi silk fusion or silk element mega silk.

HOW TO PREVENT SHEDDING ON YOUR EXTENSIONS

As a result of the wefting process, you may experience a few loose hairs during your initial brush out and CoWash. This is normal and should reduce significantly after the first few washes. We expect that you will have minimal shedding each day while following a routine haircare regimen. Please be advised that RAW hair gets better with time – it needs love!

All Extensions are subject to minimum shedding. However, chemically processing the hair, vigorously brushing, combing and constant wear/tear can cause the hair to shed more than normal. However, you can prevent shedding by implementing these tips.

FOR WEFTED HAIR

Use the over and out method when installing your hair. Although our wefts are custom made, we still advise that you care for them the best you can. Not required, but you may seal your wefts using a good quality weft sealant. Also, cut your wefts only when absolutely necessary. After your install, brush your hair out thoroughly to remove loose hairs. We recommend to double the track folding the weft in half to ensure beards are inwards and not touching scalp

TIP 1. RE-SEAL YOUR WEFTS - Before installing your hair, open and un ravel the bundle of hair. Lay it flat across a non stick surface such as counter top or table. Apply a weft sealant of your choice along the top of your wefted bundles. Applying sealant on one side should suffice, as most sealers seep through onto the other side. Allow sealant to completely dry before installing.

TIP 2. DO NOT CUT YOUR WEFT - If so, use a weft sealer on each cut end. Professional Stylists suggest folding the wefts rather than cutting individual tracks. This maintains the integrity of the extension, prevents shedding, and makes re-installation easier.

TIP 3. SEW AROUND YOUR WEFTS -It’s imperative not to puncture sewing needle through your wefts. Be sure to have your stylist sew around your wefts. Puncturing through the wefts will cause the stitch along the track to loosen and immediately prompt shedding.

HOW TO CO-WASHING LACE BASE EXTENSIONS BEFORE INSTALLING, (I.E FRONTALS, CLOSURES, WIGS)

Step 1: Detangle by using a wide-toothed comb or detangling brush once when the hair is dry. Gently start from the ends and work your way up towards the lace. Take a bowl of lukewarm water and add a generous amount of any sulfate free conditioner to it. Mix it well to make a semi fluid conditioner rich Mixture. Do not massage the conditioner directly on the hair. Hold both the end of the lace and gently rinse the lace extensions into the conditioner mixture and Let the hair sit in the conditioner solution for at least 15 mins. The longer you leave the conditioner in before rinsing, the more hydrated your hair will be.

Step 2: spread a Towel on a flat surface, Now take the Lace extension directly from the conditioner bath by holding both the ends of the lace and gently place it on the towel that was laid on a flat surface without rinsing the conditioner, Gently Comb the hair extensions with wide tooth comb or denim brush with the conditioner on it from the bottom and work your way up. Please do it slow and gently without pulling the hair or poking the Lace with the comb.

Step 3: Lace extensions should not be handled rigorously. Avoid Scrunching the lace or applying the conditioner directly on the hair. Do not scrub the lace, it can cause it to tear or shed.

Step 4: Rinse thoroughly once with cool water to close the hair cuticles and lock in moisture & shine.

Step 5: Let hair air dry and brush it only after once the hair is completely dry.

Step 6: Proceed to install (Note: Read How to Prevent Shedding Before Installing)

CARING FOR YOUR LACE BASE EXTENSIONS I.E CLOSURES, FRONTALS & WIGS:

TIP 1: Be very careful and gentle when handling lace base extensions Ex: Closures, Frontals and Wigs as the lace fabric is very delicate. Vigorously brushing, combing and plucking with tweezers can cause punctures within the lace.

TIP 2: Do not scratch your lace with foreign objects i.e rattail combs, bobby pins you will rip the lace.

TIP 3: Avoid bleaching the knots of your lace, chemicals can cause the knots & lace to weaken and may promote shedding. Use a concealer powder in lieu of bleach.

TIP 4: Use a spray sealant such as Knot Seal to help minimize and prevent shedding. We recommend "Walker's Top-Loc Knot sealer"
